Position Overview

IDNR is seeking a professional to serve as an Account Technician I.  Under general supervision, performs difficult and highly complex tasks in the preparation, processing, and expediting of all Department personal services and contractual services payroll on a computerized system; enters variant pay transactions, direct deposit requests and deferred compensation.  Reconciles and balances vouchers on a semi-monthly basis.

Job Responsibilities

1.  Performs difficult and highly complex tasks in the preparation, processing and expediting of all the Department's personal services and contractual services payroll on a computerized system:

  • Reviews documents are accurate before entering into computerized system.

 

2.  Receives and enters pay variants for the Agency:

  • Prints electronic pay variants for overtime, holiday, dock time, shift differential, call back and temporary assignments and organizes by pay periods and Offices.
  • Balances vouchers on a semi-monthly basis.

 

3.  Processes and enters direct deposit requests on agency payroll system.

 

4.  Assists the agency's Deferred Compensation Liaison in regards to the program and encourages enrollment:

  • Processes all required documents through CMS and assists agency personnel in determining maximum deferral amounts to ensure that over deferral does not occur.

 

5.  Assist in processing unemployment claims:

  • Reviews and investigates to ensure validity of the claimant.

 

6.  Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and completion of an approved training course or three years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Requires working knowledge of accounting techniques.
  2. Requires working knowledge of state or non-state accounting procedures.
  3. Requires working knowledge of office methods and procedures.
  4. Requires working knowledge of principles and functions of standard office accounting machines and equipment.
  5. Requires ability to apply established accounting techniques.
