Job Overview
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA), Director’s Office/Chief of Staff, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Finance Section, Expenditure Control Unit is seeking to hire an individual to serve as an Account Technician I. The ideal candidate for this position will be organized, and detailed and possess the ability to adapt to change in a collaborative, fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will also need to be able to communicate effectively verbally, electronically and in writing with both internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Functions
- Performs technical accounting work in maintaining established general account books, reviewing invoices,
reconciliation of payments/credits, and the resolution of any discrepancies within Agency bureaus and divisions for
the Director/Chief of Staff, Chief Financial Officer, Finance Section, Expenditure Control Illinois Environmental
Protection Agency (IEPA); - Conducts maintenance and tracking of Agency mailing/shipping accounts via Microsoft Excel spreadsheets;
- Assists the Supervisor in the review of all Agency vendor statements;
- Coordinate the flow of voucher process;
- Picks up mail for the Finance section every morning from the Agency Mail Room.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated
above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and completion of an
approved training course or three years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)
- Prefers working knowledge of accounting techniques.
- Prefers working Knowledge of state or non-state accounting procedures.
- Prefers working knowledge of office methods and procedures.
- Prefers working knowledge of principles and functions of standard office accounting machines and equipment.
- Prefers the ability to apply established accounting techniques.
