POSITION SUMMARY

The Department of Central Management Services (CMS) is seeking to hire an Account Technician I to serve the Accounts Payable Unit in the Office of Finance and Management. Under general supervision, this position will perform technical accounting duties related to maintaining expenditure and vendor records along with specialized clerical functions. An ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have strong communication skills, and will either have experience with the operating systems and software used by CMS, or comparable accounting systems and software experience. POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Under general supervision, performs technical accounting duties in maintaining established account books of Agency.
  • Performs specialized clerical functions in the maintenance of Agency financial documents.
  • Communicates with the IOC and Agency Bureaus regarding adjustments to payments and certification of vendors.
  • Assists in the development, improvement and recording of accounting procedures and methodologies.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

•    Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and completion of an approved training course or three years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•    Prefers working knowledge of state or non-state accounting methods, procedures, and techniques.
•    Prefers working knowledge of office methods and procedures. 
•    Prefers working knowledge of principles and functions of standard office accounting machines and equipment. 
•    Prefers one (1) year professional experience establishing and maintaining satisfactory working relationships with other employees and the public.
•    Prefers working knowledge of System Applications Products (SAP) and Statewide Accounting Management System (SAMS).
•    Prefers working knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations relating to state governmental accounting procedures.
•    Prefers one (1) year professional experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This position requires the applicant to pass a background check.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.
