Position Overview

Under direction, serves as a designated lead worker and independently performs technical accounting work, internal auditing, and fiscal reporting for the McFarland Mental Health Center; maintains a complex, complete set of detailed account books for the Center by fund.  Examines and reconciles Center's documents with the statewide computerized accounting system, posts financial information to ledgers and registers, adjusts entries and reconciles financial records and documents. Checks payroll vouchers for correctness and calculates complex payroll functions.

Job Responsibilities


30% 1. Independently performs technical accounting work, internal auditing and fiscal reporting for McFarland Mental Health Center.

 

20% 2. Serves as designated lead worker.

 

15% 3. Examines and reconciles Center's documents with the statewide computerized accounting system.

 

10% 4. Maintains the Center's records on the statewide computerized accounting system.

 

 5% 5. Audits, reviews and examines documents for delinquencies and errors and confirms corrective action is taken.

 

 5% 6. Assists internal and external auditors.

 

 5% 7. Performs technical accounting work and adjustments to the computerized purchasing system.

 

 5% 8. Calculates complex payroll functions.

 

 5% 9. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and one year of technical accounting experience or four years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of office methods and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of state or non-state accounting procedures.
  • Working knowledge of principles and functions of standard office accounting machines and equipment.
  • Ability to supervise and train a small staff of sub-professionals in performance of specialized clerical and account-keeping tasks.
  • Ability to apply established accounting methods and techniques.
