Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking an individual to serve as an Account Technician II in the Division of Accounting Services within the Office of Finance and Administration. This individual will be responsible for performing validation data entry of all remittances coming into the Department on a daily basis. This position performs multiple levels of sorting, grouping and classifying incoming source documents, posting data into electronic databases and safekeeping of all remittances and source documents upon arrival in the Department. Essential Functions
- Under direction, independently performs technical accounting work in maintaining a ledger for the Division.
- Performs validation data entry of all remittances coming into the Division.
- Posts data into an electronically based file structure.
- Maintains safekeeping of all remittances and source documents upon arrival in the Division and sorting.
- Handles phone inquiries on receipt of fees, licenses, and tracks information for those inquiries.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and one (1) year of technical accounting experience or four (4) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to work at various times outside of normal office hours as needed.
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
