We invite qualified applicants to apply for the position which serves as an Account Technician II in Vouchering of the Administrative Service Section at State Retirement Systems (SRS). This position is responsible for reviewing and entering removals for SRS benefits, entering outside deductions for current SRS benefits, and reviewing and processing files for new benefits. This position is also responsible for processing monthly expenses. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, detail oriented, have excellent analytic, communication (both verbal and in writing), and organizational skills. SRS is conveniently located on the west side of Springfield with free parking on-site.

Essential Functions
- Prepares both benefit payment and refund files for vouchering.
- Analyzes reports received from the Comptroller’s Office regarding rejected electronic fund transfers and takes the necessary action to correct the record to ensure that benefit payments are paid accurately on the next available payroll.
- Codes federal and state withholding changes and multiple optional payroll deduction forms, including verifying accurate payee status and entry to benefit data base.
- Prepares both administrative and claims receivable refund vouchers for initial phase of payment through the SAMS/SAP vouchering system.
- Prepares all electronic fund transfer forms for next available continuing monthly benefit payment, ensuring benefit payments are paid accurately to requestor on the next available prelist by verifying status of payee and mailing address provided on form.
- Accurately completes and submits Illinois Office of the Comptroller Warrant Action Request Form (C-50) which directs a stop and replacement for lost or destroyed benefit payment warrants.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and one year of technical accounting experience; or
- Requires four years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers extensive knowledge of accounting techniques.
- Prefers working knowledge of state or non-state accounting procedures.
- Prefers ability to apply established accounting methods and techniques.
- Prefers ability to resolve discrepancies with financial documents.
- Prefers experience working with Excel spreadsheets.
- Prefers experience working with the SAMS system and/or SAP.
Work Hours: 8:00a.m. - 4:30p.m., Monday - Friday, in the office on a full-time basis, no remote work option
