Position Overview
Office of Policy, Planning and Statistics Accountant position will handle the tracking of fund balances for multiple Federal Awards, General Revenue and State Special Funding appropriations. That includes providing detailed funding reports of the award total, expenditures & obligations to all the divisions within our office on as needed or at minimum a Quarterly basis. Accountant position will also review for all necessary approval documentation for contracts / grants & vendor payments. Approval forms include; consolidated request form, approval memos for memberships, In & Out of state travel approvals, etc. After confirmation of approvals enter agreements into the contract accounting system (SAP-SRM), review & process vendor payments to suppliers, contractors & grantees in SAP Accounting System. Prepare expenditure reports, obligation reports and document reports of payments pending.

Essential Functions
- Performs professional accounting, purchasing, and auditing functions involving the maintenance of complex state and federally funded project funds and the preparation of related financial reports and statements.
- Enter Obligations for grants, IGAs, and other agreements into the department’s accounting system.
- Assist Budget Manger with Reviewing, auditing, and approving payment and obligation entries in the Department’s accounting system.
- Assists Fiscal Manager with fund allotments, transfers and reconciliations, research, and preparation of responses to internal and external audit request, Court of Claims request.
- Assists with training for incoming Accountants and Account Tech II positions within OPPS Fiscal.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting.
- Requires two (2) years of professional experience in accounting, external auditing, budgetary planning and control or public accounting.
