Position overview:
The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Finance, Bureau Budget and Cash Management is seeking to hire an Accountant Advanced who, under direction, independently performs complex accounting work for the Drug Rebate Section; maintains several accounting systems and databases developed for the program; develops automated billings to pharmaceutical manufacturers in relation to agency reimbursement systems, automated accounting systems, and automated paid claim level systems; serves as technical advisor to lower-level staff; verifies through rate comparison reports the accuracy of rates used to develop the state rebate billings to manufacturers; explains billing discrepancies discovered by pharmaceutical companies; and develops monthly and quarterly financial reports for the Comptroller's Office.

Essential Functions
- Serves as Accountant Advanced for the Division of Finance’s Bureau of Budget and Cash Management
- Develops automated billings to pharmaceutical manufacturers in relation to agency reimbursement systems, automated accounting systems, and automated paid claim level systems
- Serves as technical advisor to lower-level staff
- Verifies through rate comparison reports the accuracy of rates used to develop the state rebate billings to manufacturers
- Explains billing discrepancies discovered by pharmaceutical companies
- Develops monthly and quarterly financial reports for the Comptroller’s Office
- Using various databases, develops and compiles the SCARRS report, which identifies accounts receivable categorized by age of debts
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college with courses in business administration and accounting
- Requires two years professional experience in accounting, external auditing, budgetary planning and control, or public accounting
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to pass a background check
- Requires the ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop
