The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Finance, Bureau of Fiscal Operations is seeking to hire a Vouchering Unit Accountant. This position conducts professional accounting activities involving the maintenance and examination of general account books, detailed account books, and related records and documents entered in the Department’s accounting system. This position also reviews and analyzes travel billings and commercial vendor payments and updates the Department’s accounting system. Other duties include evaluating and analyzing general account records and reports.

Job Description

  • Serves as the Vouchering Unit Accountant for the Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division Finance, Bureau of Fiscal Operations by conducting professional accounting activities involving the maintenance and examination of general account books, detailed account books, and related records and documents entered in the Department’s accounting system
  • Reviews and analyzes travel billings and commercial vendor payments
  • Updates the Department’s accounting system
  • Evaluates and analyzes general account records and reports
  • Examines and evaluates vouchers to ensure compliance with rules and regulations of the Department of Central Management Services, the Illinois Office of the Comptroller, and the Department
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting or four years of technical accounting experience
    *Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
