Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to under general direction, serve as staff assistant for the Compliance Assurance Certification Program, performing a variety of functions pertaining to the licensure and certification of long-term care programs. Serves a working supervisor to clerical staff.

Essential Functions
- As staff assistant, actively participates in the planning, development and implementation of policy and procedures as related to compliance assurance program.
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Processes and tracks all state violations (deficiencies and no deficiencies) from participating facilities.
- Monitors and tracks all information related to Specialized Mental Health Rehabilitation Facilities (SMHRF) and works closely with SMHRF department to ensure clear and precise data transfer.
- Researches, composes, prepares, and generates correspondence, reports, legal orders and computerized transmissions of detailed data files.
- Trains staff in the evaluation, prioritization, processing and generations of documents received from the long-term care review staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifcations
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency-approved professional management training program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of work experience in Microsoft Word, processing, and spreadsheet applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheets).
- Two (2) years of experience preparing correspondence in a professional manner consistent with applicable policies and procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of office practices, procedures, and programs.
- One (1) year of experience preparing complex written and oral reports.
- One (1) year of experience reviewing and proofing files for accuracy and completeness.
