Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire an Administrative Assistance 2 for the Office of Land Management/Historic Sites. This position assists in the coordination of various operational programs within the Division; gathers and disseminates Division data; collects necessary information and prepares Strategic Planning and Division Initiative reports; confers with the Division Manager in the development, interpretation, and installation of programs and procedures for Division operations; and drafts correspondence and prepares reports in both physical and electronic formats. The ideal candidate will possess and be able to utilize their organization skills, independent research ability and public speaking skills. The Historic Sites Division of Land Management oversees 56 historic sites and memorials across the state, covering more than 2,000 years of Illinois history. Essential Functions
- Under administrative direction of Director of Historic Sites, functions as staff assistant and assists in the planning, development, and implementation of administrative policies
- Serves as Division Liaison with administrative personnel for various projects and the Division's Strategic Planning Coordinator
- Serves as Division liaison with various individuals and groups
- Maintains filing system and responds to Divisional inquiries
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration
- Requires two years of professional experience in a public or private organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of professional experience developing office practices, policies, and procedures
- Two (2) years of professional experience using technology and software to track, manage, and improve the operations of a large office or programs
- Two (2) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail while working on multiple projects
