Position Overview
The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) is the state’s lead agency serving people with disabilities committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and racial justice. The mission of the Division is to assist individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals of employment, education, and independent living. This position handles for the Division Director special projects of which some may be sensitive or controversial in nature; performs highly independent responsible duties relevant to the daily administration and operation of the Division; and serves as liaison for the Director and programs reporting to the Division of Rehabilitation Services The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire an independent critical thinking and self-motivated individual with strong leadership and communication skills for this administrative assistant position.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as staff assistant to the Director of the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS).
- Serves as liaison for the Director and programs reporting to the Division of Rehab Services.
- Performs liaison duties with respect to other areas of the Division and the Department.
- Monitors personnel related activities for the Division.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
- Requires two (2) years professional experience in a public or private organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years professional experience communicating effectively in writing and orally and coordinating the day-to-day activities that lead to greater efficiencies and effectiveness for a large administrative area within a public or private organization.
- Three (3) years of professional experience as a representative of an administrative leader to discuss and/or interpret programs, services, and procedures for the public and/or other internal/external entities.
- Three (3) years professional experience working for a public or private organization in a social or human services field, maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
- Two (2) years of professional experience developing and maintaining professional working relationships with staff, customers, vendors and public and encouraging respect for those of other cultures and backgrounds.
- Two (2) years of professional experience efficiently tracking status and/or completion of assignments across a large agency to ensure such assignments are thorough, accurate, and completed within designated timeframes.
- Two (2) years of professional experience utilizing computer software such as Microsoft office suites in the preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and presentations for various audiences.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to travel.
- Requires basic proficiency in MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills
Work Hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday-Friday
