Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as Administrative Hearings Support Worker. Under direction, this position will perform a variety of complex, specialized clerical support services for the Administrative Hearings Unit. As part of the review team, this position will maintain responsibility for data capture and tracking of approximately 30% of expungement appeals. The position will receive incoming appeals and search database for open case or previous case now closed related to new appeal. This position will also perform preliminary reviews on appeals to ensure compliance with Department rules and procedures and will prepare and maintain highly specialized records on mediation sessions and fair hearings. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is detail oriented and interested in playing a supporting role in the Department’s operations. Essential Functions
- Serves as Administrative Hearings Support Worker
- Performs preliminary reviews on appeals to ensure compliance with Department rules and procedures
- Prepares and maintains highly specialized records on mediation sessions and fair hearings
- Maintains system for receiving and docketing hearing requests
- Keyboards orders of dismissals and sends by certified mail to appellant or appellant's attorney with copy by regular mail to caseworker or supervisor, while maintaining copy in file
- Serves as backup in answering phones and greeting walk-ins
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school
- Requires 2 years of office experience
- Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 45 wpm
