Position Overview

Under general direction, provides audiovisual support for all ISP Academy programs for the Division of Training and Academy. Coordinates and prioritizes work for the Audiovisual Unit. Assembles information using a wide variety of technically advanced audio-visual equipment to create training materials which support Academy curriculum. Serves as liaison officer between the Academy and the ISP Photo Lab and all state, county and local agencies regarding all electronic, audio, and visual equipment matters and all matters concerning graphic arts and design. Provides training to personnel from various ISP entities in the use of audiovisual equipment located at the Academy and off-site locations to ensure equipment is used properly. Ensures the Audiovisual Unit is in constant supply of materials needed for present and future projects to produce the requested instructor and class necessities.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates and prioritizes work for the Audio-Visual Unit.
  • Assembles information using a wide variety of technically advanced audio-visual equipment to create training materials which support Academy curriculum.
  • Serves as liaison officer between the Academy and the ISP Photo Lab and all state, county and local agencies regarding all electronic, audio, and visual equipment matters and all matters concerning graphic arts and design Creates CDs and DVDs from the edited programs used by instructors and other state agencies.
  • Responsible for inventory of State-owned equipment, borrowed equipment from other state and federal agencies, along with input into the purchase of new equipment from the State contract or appropriate vendors. Maintains inventory and circulation records.
  • Provides training to personnel from various ISP entities in the use of audiovisual equipment located at the Academy and offsite locations to ensure equipment is used properly.
  • Ensures the Audiovisual Unit is in constant supply of materials needed for present and future projects to produce the requested instructor and class necessities.
  • Serves as a backup to the receptionist for the Academy Lobby.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of those duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school.
  • Requires two years of experience in art techniques, visual presentation or motion picture projection and maintenance work.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers one (1) year experience with the operation of all audio-visual equipment, overhead projectors, camcorders, graphics programs, and sound equipment.
  • Prefers two (2)  years’ experience in art techniques, visual presentations, or motion picture projection and maintenance work.
  • Prefers one (1) year experience creating and building audio-visual displays, posters, drawings and exhibits which express the desired message
  • Prefers skill and ability to apply principles of drawing, painting design, composition, color, lettering, typography and layout for audio-visual presentation programs.

 

Employment Conditions

  • Pass the Illinois State Police Background Investigation.
  • Pass the Illinois State Police Drug Screen
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be capable of lifting audio-visual equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and carrying the equipment up and down two flights of stairs.
  • Must be capable of climbing ladders, lifting, and bending in order to set up and tear down audio visual equipment.
