Position Overview

Under general supervision for the Office of the Director/Office of Finance, performs professional accounting and auditing work involving state and federal grant funds. Prepares financial reports reflecting expenditures and activities resulting from program operations.  Maintains a complex set of accounting ledgers. Works with divisions to ensure balances reconcile.  Prepares requests for funds for various grants.  Provides other technical assistances as it relates to grant fiscal management.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains Financial Records and Monitors Grants.
  • Provides Grants Management Support.
  • Ensures Compliance with Grant Regulations.
  • Prepares and Submits Financial Reports.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within scope of duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting.
  • Requires two years of professional experience in accounting, external auditing, budgetary planning and control or public accounting. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers at least Two (2) years of accounting experience.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience preparing accounting reports.
  • Prefers at least Two (2) years of experience reconciling accounting records.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience using System Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP) accounting software.
  • Prefers at least one (1)  year experience of knowledge of 2 CFR 200 and/or State of Illinois Grant Accountability and Transparency Act (GATA).
