Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as an Accountant Supervisor in the Accounts Receivable/Validation Unit within the Office of Finance and Administration. The individual will process daily deposits by entering check lots, scanning checks from multiple divisions throughout the agency, and preparing Receipt Deposit Transmittal reports (C-64s). The position is responsible for processing refunds and returned checks, maintaining Accounts Receivable for various programs, and preparing specialized annual reports for submission to the Illinois Office of the Comptroller (IOC). The individual will review the quarterly Accounts Receivable reports that are filed with the IOC and provide detailed supporting documentation to internal and external auditors regarding receipts and Accounts Receivable. Essential Functions
- Under general supervision, performs the following tasks:-Multiple levels of sorting, grouping, and classifying all incoming receipt source documents.
- Compiles the data to complete the submission of the annual Fee Imposition Report required by the Illinois Office of the Comptroller (IOC).
- Prepares daily deposits and scanning checks for multiple divisions throughout the agency.
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Provides annual or periodic reports and records as needed for preparation of annual GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) packages, for departmental financial statements, in response to audit inquiry, and to meet reporting requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting.
- Requires two (2) years of professional experience in accounting, external auditing, budgetary planning and control or public accounting.
