Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as the Accounting & Customer Service Supervisor for the Division of Vital Records. The individual will implement and carry out policy for the total administrative and accounting process of the Accounting and Customer Service Unit. The individual will plan, direct and supervise staff responsible for accounting functions in the Office. They will serve as grant manger for Vital Records and coordinate budget preparation, analysis and reporting. They will interact with customers in person, regarding complex inquiries or unique situations. Serves as a working supervisor. We welcome all qualified candidates to apply today.

Essential Functions
- Implements policy for the total administrative process of the Accounting and Customer Service Unit, including incoming mail distribution, eligibility process and review, Illinois Vital Records System (IVRS) and Illinois BlueZone Mainframe (IMSA) data entry of customers’ requests, bookkeeping, and issuing administrative copies to other government entities.
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Organizes the goals and objectives of the Unit, to align with the Division goals and objectives.
- Oversees the Death Surcharge Fund submitted by all Illinois Counties to the Division.
- Interacts with customers in person, regarding complex inquiries or unique situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
- Requires two (2) years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience with vital/confidential records.
- Two (2) years of technical accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Two (2) years of experience implementing policy.
- Two (2) years of experience organizing goals and objectives for a program.
- Two (2) years of experience interacting with customers regarding complex inquiries or unique situations.
- Two (2) years of experience serving as a witness for documents signed by others.
- One (1) year experience as a supervisor.
- One (1) year experience working with Microsoft Software Programs.
