Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as an Account Technician I for the Division of Vital Records. Under direction of the Accounting and Customer Service Supervisor, performs a variety of complex and specialized confidential processes regarding vital records. Performs technical accounting work in maintaining established general account books. Utilizes the accounting system to enter and verify customer requests and information as well as generating reports. Prepares, maintains, reviews and evaluates files, records and documents for processing. Acts as the Division liaison with the IDPH Accounting Services.

Essential Functions
- Processes the various requests and forms received and manually enters the accounting and requester data into the Accounting Information System (AIS).
- Reviews and performs evaluations of request forms received from all sources including but not limited to, federal, state and local governments, hospitals, researchers and the general public.
- Prepares checks, cash, money orders, and credit card payments received.
- Manages and maintains the Death Certificate Surcharge Fund and the Cemetery Oversight Fund Accounting Database.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and completion of an approved training course or three years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
