Essential Functions

  • Assists Veterinary Personnel in administering and monitoring the Chronic Wasting disease Program (CWD) and Cervid Brucellosis (CB) program.
  • Assists coworkers, supervisors and management with the registration of new premises ID's and maintains current ID's and Animal Disease traceability and emergency preparedness information.
  • Receives and maintains complaints relative to noncompliance (dockets).
  • Serves as back up for the Bureau.
  • Receives and respond to telephone and written communication from the public, field personnel and government officials relative to the statutes administered by the Bureau of Animal Health and Welfare.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
  • Requires one year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers working knowledge of state and federal statutes, rules and regulations related to animal health and welfare.
  • Prefers working knowledge of offices practices, procedures and programs.
  • Prefers working knowledge of licenses, health records, certificates and record keeping practices.
  • Prefers working knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Prefers elementary knowledge of agency policies and procedures regarding animal health and welfare.
  • Prefers experience in working with and entering data into USA HERDS or other comparable databases.
