Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, energetic individual to serve as Assistant Agency Automotive Fleet Manager. Under direction, this position will provide professional assistance to the Agency Automotive Fleet Manager in the overall management, assignment, and maintenance of the Department’s vehicle inventory. The position will coordinate and maintain vehicle assignment logs, investigate complaints regarding automotive-related issues, and evaluate and resolve such complaints. In addition, this position will work with staff, supervisors, insurance companies, and law enforcement in the resolution of claims. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is focused on ensuring the appropriate use and maintenance of the Department’s automotive fleet. Essential Functions

  • Serves as Assistant Agency Automotive Fleet Manager
  • Supports the direction of the Department’s automotive program and instructs staff on Agency policy, rules, and regulations
  • Works with staff, supervisors, insurance companies, and law enforcement in the resolution of claims
  • Provides input into the evaluation and implementation of the Agency’s goals for meeting and maintaining rules and standards related to the management of equipment and record keeping
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration
  • Requires one year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of professional experience managing or working in an automotive or facilities management program in a public or business organization
  • 2 years of professional experience in a public or business organization performing record maintenance and/or inventory functions
  • 2 years of professional experience in a public or business organization utilizing extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of public and business administration
  • 2 years of professional experience in a public or business organization exercising the ability to analyze administrative problems and adopt an effective course of action
  • 2 years of professional experience in a public or business organization exercising judgment and discretion in developing, implementing, and interpreting departmental policies and procedures
