The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) is hiring a Building/Grounds Laborer. This position is responsible for coordinating activities related to cleaning and maintaining ALPLM's beautiful campus. The ideal candidate is dependable, a self-starter, and is comfortable working alone as well as with others. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is a world class institution that welcomes more than 250,000 visitors every year and houses one of the world's best collections of Illinois and Lincoln-related documents, artifacts, and audiovisual materials. Essential Functions

  • Maintains interior cleanliness of facilities.
  • Cleans exhibit areas and stairways open to the public.
  • Performs exterior maintenance of facilities.
  • Participates in setting up and taking down tables and chairs for meetings, events and receptions.
  • Wipes tables in meeting rooms, break rooms and common areas.
  • Loads and unloads trucks.
  • Conducts rounds on the premises including parking garage.
  • Performs upkeep on Agency vehicles to keep them clean of debris.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school. High school diploma preferred.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires possession of a valid appropriate driver's license and required auto insurance.
  • Requires the ability to work holidays, evenings and weekends.
  • Requires the ability to pass a background check.
  • Requires the use of an agency-supplied mobile phone.
