Position Overview

This position serves as primary technical support to the Capital Development Board (CDB) Art-in-Architecture (AIA) Program. Plans, organizes and coordinates Fine Arts Review Committee (FARC) meetings to comply with the AIA enabling legislation (20 ILCS 3105/14). Coordinates, tracks, and distributes AIA Program and project documentation with and to other CDB units.  Maintains and updates the AIA website. Provides general administrative support to AIA Program.  . 

 

Job Responsibilities

1. The Art in Architecture Technician serves as primary technical support to Capital Development Board (CDB) Art -in-Architecture (AIA) Program to provide support for the following: maintains and updates artist portfolio materials in response to Requests for Qualifications (RFQ; downloads and screens artist portfolio materials for completeness and compliance; solicits missing and supplemental information; and responds to inquiries concerning the RFQ process and procedures.   

 

2. Plans, organizes, and coordinates Fine Arts Review Committee (FARC) meetings to comply with the AIA enabling Legislation (20 ILCS 3105/14) by inviting and tracking attendees; Drafts agendas, meeting materials, and minutes and distributes materials and posts results; ensures all FARC meetings comply with  the Open Meetings Act and all FARC memebers coply with Ethics Act requirements; assists with travel arrangements as needed.

 

3 .Coordinates, tracks, and distributes AIA program and project documentation with and to other CDB units by maintaining the AIA project list with information; coordinates with the Fiscal Unit to obligate project budgets, contracts, and process payments and adds new artists to the Fiscal system; tracks and submits certificates of insurance to the Contracts unit and maintains databases fo completed artwork and updates project files and archives as needed.

 

4. Maintains and updates the AIA website by working with the Department of Innovation and Technology and CDB staff to provide current information to the AIA website including RFQ and FARC meeting postings.

 

5. Provides general administrative support to the AIA Program by responding to routine requests for information, filing and archiving AIA materials and serves as information resource to artists, users, and the public.

 

6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of two (2) years of college with courses in the visual arts, graphic design and museum studies.
  • Requires two (2) years of office related experience, preferably two years of experience in an arts-related field.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have working knowledge of databases with familiarity of museum collection management database sotware such as Past Perfect.
  • Must have working knowledge of computer applications and software, specifically MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Adobe Photoshop experience.
  • Requires judgement in analyzing, prioritizing, evaluating and solving problems.
  • Requires ability to effectively organize time, and anticiipate, plan, and manage multiple priorities with deadlines.
  • Requires ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Requires ability to interact with government agencies, private sector, CDB staff and the public.
  • Ability to wotk independently and as part of a team.
