Position Overview

Under direction, assists in managing grant projects under the following grant programs; Open Land Trust (OL T), Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV), the federal Recreational Trails Program (RTP), the Snowmobile Trail Establishment Fund (STEF), the Local Government Snowmobile grant program and other grant programs. Assists in preparing grant contracts, contract billings and project amendments. 

Job Responsibilities

 

  1. Participates in the review of the accuracy, completeness and eligibility of submitted project applications for the Open Land Trust (OLT), Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV), the federal Recreational Trails Program (RTP), the Snowmobile Trail Establishment Fund (STEF), the Local Government Snowmobile program, the Open Space Land Acquisition Development (OSLAD), the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), the Bicycle Path program, the Boat Access program, and the Museum Operating and Capital grant programs.
  2. Participates in the preparation of contracts and CODs by providing general assistance to local grant recipients; assists with inspections of completed projects for contract compliance by visiting locations and reviewing project guidelines; Assists with completing reimbursement documents and reviewing the accuracy, completeness and eligibility of other state and federal grant projects.
  3. Maintains administrative files on the Open Land Trust (OLT), Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV), the federal Recreational Trails Program (RTP), the Snowmobile Trail Establishment Fund (STEF), the Local Government Snowmobile grant program and other grant projects and progress.
  4. Prepares responses to routine oral/written grant inquiries from local officials, professional staff, consultants, and legislators regarding various grant programs.
  5. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with course work in public administration.
  2. Requires one year professional experience in an organization of, or, in the grants administration field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of computer applications including database management and word processing.

Charged with preserving, protecting, and promoting Illinois’ natural resources, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) employees oversee water, wildlife, wetlands and oil wells, parks, historic sites – and everything in between. The programs include the Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Program. This funds projects which will provide new recreational facilities such as parks and playgrounds. The Bikeway's Program provides for bike trail enhancement and development. The Boat Access program provides for new and improved boat accesses. The Snowmobile Access & Development program provides for new and improved snowmobile trails and trail access.
