We are seeking to hire a summer intern for the Illinois Department of Agriculture’s Communication Office. Duties include assisting staff in creating press releases, social media posts, taking photos and producing videos for the Illinois Department of Agriculture. This is a perfect opportunity for a student looking to gain experience in the field of communications and be involved with a busy, public-facing state agency. The internship also provides a one-of-a-kind experience to work behind the scenes on the DuQuoin State Fair and learn how an event of this magnitude is covered by the media, how to handle the public relations demands and how to successfully promote the event online. Our ideal candidate is a communications major who wants to enter the public or media relations field upon completing college. Essential Functions

  • PARTICIPATES IN AN AGENCY-SPONSORED PROGRAM FOR A PERIOD OF NOT TO EXCEED FOUR (4) YEARS
  • ASSISTS PROFESSIONAL STAFF IN CREATING SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS FOR ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE.
  • ASSIST IN TAKING PHOTOS AND PRODUCING VIDEOS FOR THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE.
  • PERFORMS OTHE DUTIES AS REQUIRED OR ASSIGNED WHICH ARE REASONABLE WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE DUTIES ENUMERATED ABOVE

Minimum Qualifications

  • REQURIES KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND MENTAL DEVELOPMENT EQUIVELENT TO THE COMPLETION OF HIGH SCHOOL AND ACTIVE ENROLLMENT AT A COLLEGE.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PREFERS BASIC PROFICIENCY IN COMPUTER PROGRAMS SUCH AS MICROSOFT OFFICE SUTIE PRODUCTS (SUCH AS OUTLOOK, WORD AND EXCEL) AND ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD.
  • PREFERS EXPERIENCE CREATING STATIC AND DYNAMIC SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT AND MANAGING VARIOUS SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS
  •  PREFERS EXPERIENCE MAINTAINING WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS.
