Position Overview: 

The Illinois State Police (ISP) are seeking to hire a Curriculum Section Supervisor for the Division of Academy and Training. This position manages the full lifecycle of curriculum development for the department’s basic, in‑service, and specialty training programs. The role ensures all training meets departmental standards, aligns with adult learning principles, and maintains compliance with applicable accreditation requirements. ISP encourages all those who qualify to apply!

Essential Functions

  • Manages all aspects of the planning, development, production, implementation, review, and evaluation of curriculum to meet departmental needs related to basic, in-service, and other specialty training programs. 
  • Serves as a full line supervisor; assigns and reviews work. 
  • Directs the presentation of various ISP Academy curricula to ensure standards related to delivery of training and Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) are maintained. 
  • Provides direction to Academy staff on implementing adult learning strategies and techniques. 
  • Serves as a member of the Curriculum Review Committee and provides direction and advice on education and training proposal plans.  
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably holding a Bachelor's Degree in Education with a valid ISBE issued professional Educator License. 
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or private organization. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers extensive knowledge related to the planning, development, production, implementation, review, and evaluation of curriculum. 
  • Prefers three (3) years of educational programs in public or private organizations.   
  • Prefers four (4) years' experience and knowledge of public and business administration, principles and practices. 
  • Prefers four (4) years’ experience working with programs, service objectives, activities, and operational systems in a public or private organization. 
  • Prefers four (4) years' experience with utilizing staff and motivating employees. 
  • Prefers four (4) years' experience and extensive knowledge of labor and employment development. 
  • Prefers three (3) years' experience managing or supervising professional or training staff. 
  • Prefers three (3) years' experience preparing and presenting training to diverse groups. 
  • Prefers three (3) years of professional experience interpreting and implementing policies and procedures in a private or public organization. 

Conditions of Employment
