Position overview:
The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Medical Programs; Bureau of Technical Services is seeking to hire a Claims Tech Support Analyst in the claims support area of the bureau. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle complex tasks in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone with excellent communication abilities, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset to support our claims support team efficiently. The Claims Tech Support Analyst will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations and providing critical support to the department and specializing in institutional claims.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in medical claims, including utilizing EDI HIPAA transactions as well as maintaining accurate documentation. A strong understanding of running reports and testing is essential for success in this role. This role will also spend a lot of time developing and maintaining of Project Initialization Requests (PIR), Project Resolution Requests (PRR), and Change Requests (CR) for their section.

Essential Functions
- Under direction, serves as a Claims Tech Support Analyst by planning and directing the development and maintenance of programs and subsystems that provide a variety of claims information and status
- Organizes and conducts reviews and evaluations of the systems processing elements relevant to enhancements and changes for compliance with state and federal policies and procedures
- Coordinates the development of Project Initialization Requests (PIR), Project Resolution Requests (PRR), and Change Requests (CR)
- Receives, reviews, and evaluates a variety of reports from the claims information systems/subsystems to determine system accuracy
- Serves as administrative liaison with other bureaus and agencies
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, supplemented by a master’s degree in business or public administration, with coursework in areas such as economic theory, accounting and finance, organizational theory, and operations research
- Requires three (3) years progressively responsible professional experience in management operations analysis
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience working with uniform medical billing (UB04) forms
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience working with Electronic Data Interchange HIHP837I and 835 transactions as they pertain to processing medical claims and payments
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience with pricing claim methodologies for payment of hospital and noninstitutional medical recipient claims including All Patient Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (APR/DGR), Per Diem and Enhanced Ambulatory Patient Groups (EAPG) pricing for inpatient and outpatient services
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with electronic data processing operations and the manner in which they are utilized in operations analysis
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with the application and conduct of management studies
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with the subject matter of medical claims, specifically institutional claiming
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience analyzing problems and developing systems of action
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working closely with staff and management professionals in planning and developing assignments
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience maintaining and assisting in the development and review of Project Initialization Requests, Project Resolution Requests, and Change Requests
Conditions of Employment
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history
- Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate
- Requires the ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop
- Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends
