Position Overview

This position serves as a Command Center Operations Specialist in the Enterprise Production Operations Systems (EPOS) Operations Center - night shift. In this role you will perform advanced level enterprise system and network operations control work and monitor, operate, and coordinate the enterprise computer systems. In addition, you will perform startups, shutdowns, system dumps (tasks, system, spool, etc.), sysplex coupling facility structure, moves, restores and monitors system performance and measurements. Essential Functions

  • Under general supervision, serves as a Command Center Operations Specialist for the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT).
  • Monitors various systems and contacts on-call staff to resolve any unresolved issues, such as server failures.
  • Places service calls for hardware problems.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  • Requires three (3) years of previous related experience such as is typically gained at the Data Processing Technician level.

OR

  • Requires two (2) years of college including coursework in the data processing field.
  • Requires two (2) years of related experience.

 

Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of professional experience performing enterprise system and network operations control work.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience researching, resolving, and circumventing interruptions to processing components and network connectivity.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts.
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills to present information to others with clarity and precision.
  • Ability to analyze and diagnose system issues and coordinate efforts to resolve.
  • Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, clients, and others.
