Position Overview
The Office of Inspector General is seeking to hire a Data Analyst to perform highly confidential and sophisticated data analysis for the Office of Inspector General (OIG). This position designs, conducts, coordinates, and evaluates statistical analysis of data and formulates reporting requirements for data generated by the OIG staff. The data analyst will perform short-term projects for other OIG data collection processes.
Essential Functions
- Serves as Data Analyst, planning, assigning, and monitoring the Office of Inspector General (OIG) Incident Tracking System.
- Reviews data entry work through an evaluation process.
- Serves as a working supervisor.
- Serves as liaison between the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) and office staff for technology needs.
- Designs and conducts statistical analysis.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college with courses in public or personnel administration, prelegal, accounting or industrial relations.
- Requires three (3) years professional experience in public administration, business management or accounting.
Specialized Skills
- Of the three (3) years required experience, requires three (3) years’ experience in data analysis, including the creation of Access queries, forms, and reports and the application of statistics to them utilizing SQL (Structured Query Language) and VBA (Visual Basic for Applications).
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of professional experience in data analysis, including the creation of Access queries, forms, and reports and the application of statistics to them utilizing SQL (Structured Query Language) and VBA (Visual Basic for Applications).
- Three (3) years of professional experience exercising sound judgment in analyzing, appraising, and evaluating reports and formulating decisions.
- Three (3) years of professional experience working with management principles and techniques, including organizational structures, staffing and administrative controls.
- Three (3) years of professional experience working with agency programs, policies, objectives and methods, procedures and rules and regulations.
- Two (2) years of professional experience planning, assigning, and supervising the functions of a technical staff, and to review and approve reports of studies.
- Three (3) years of professional experience establishing and maintaining sound public contacts and good working relationships with agency officials and outside organizational representatives.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to create database queries, reports, and forms, utilizing software programs such as Microsoft Access.
- Requires the ability to utilize personal computers including basic proficiency in applications such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.
