Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as the Data Coordinator. This position is responsible for serving as a policy implementing manager in creating databases for recording data collected during outbreak and cluster investigations, analyzing epidemiologic data collected during outbreak and cluster investigations, designing and maintaining data tracking systems that will analyze reported communicable disease data for all Illinois' reportable communicable diseases, and analyzing reported communicable disease data to identify outbreaks not otherwise detected.

Essential Functions
- Creates databases for recording and analyzing data collected during outbreak and cluster investigations.
- Oversees reporting reportable disease data to CDC by managing request data fields and mapping fields to the CDC’s requested file format, ensuring reporting occurs per the requested timeline.
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Maintains contact with the Division of Communications about communicable disease portion of the Department's website; provides updates and new information for inclusion on the website.
- Participates in epidemiologic and health informatic training.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Requirements
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
- Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the fields of health or human services.
Specialized Skills
- Requires three (3) years of experience in a infectious disease program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years’ experience in a infectious disease program.
- Four (4) years’ experience working with an electronic disease surveillance system.
- Four (4) years’ experience using SAS, R, Stata, Tableau or similar statistical software program for data analysis.
- Master’s degree in Epidemiology, or Public Health with a focus in epidemiology.
- Four (4) years’ professional experience in conducting infectious disease surveillance and data analysis to identify clusters, trends, anomalies and populations at risk.
- Three (3) years’ experience serving as a supervisor.
