We invite qualified applicants to apply for the position of Data Processing Technician in the Information Technology Division at State Retirement Systems (SRS). This position provides computer operations support for the Agency while focusing on customer service. It provides support by ensuring the nightly production schedule runs successfully and the timely distribution of output to Agency staff. This position is an entry-level position into the Information Technology field and will give the candidate the opportunity to learn and progress in the field of technology. The ideal candidate for this position can prioritize tasks and should be organized. They should also have excellent communication skills and be self-motivated. SRS is conveniently located on the west side of Springfield with free parking on-site.

Essential Functions
- Schedules and runs production and test print jobs during the day. Bursts, separates, sorts, and arranges computer output prior to delivery. Delivers forms, letters, vouchers, and other output from previous night’s jobs. Implements quality control functions on all output prior to distribution. Creates and implements print queue priorities based upon production schedule and users dynamic requests. Monitors and checks that operating printers for RJE’s are set for overnight runs.
- Distributes jobs that are input by I.T. co-workers during the day. Submits and controls the operational JCL changes, tests, modules, and data needed in project request testing. Implements version control procedures used to maintain application systems integrity. Schedules, submits, and monitors file transfer jobs for the Division.
- Regulates and monitors the overnight processing of data center and local night jobs from other Divisions. Ensures the successful submission of overnight processes. Documents new or changing operational procedures. Makes corrections to failed production jobs and re-submits.
- Performs data entry functions for the other SRS Divisions, including, but not limited to, vouchers, cash-receipts, deposits, and member data information changes (statx).
- Performs other administrative tasks for the I.T. Division which includes lifting boxes weighing up to 25lbs.
- Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties listed above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.
- Requires one year of related data processing experience.
- Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers working knowledge of information processing system operation principles.
- Prefers working knowledge of job submission, operation monitoring, and production procedures.
- Prefers ability to monitor consoles and enter keyboard commands rapidly and accurately.
- Prefers ability to identify system errors and correct accordingly.
- Prefers the ability to perform accurate and efficient data entry.
Employment Conditions
- Requires the ability to lift 25lbs.
Work Hours: 8:00a.m. - 4:30p.m., Monday - Friday, in the office on a full-time basis, no remote work option
