Then consider working for the Illinois Department of Revenue. We are hiring a Drafting Worker for our Space Planning Section located in Springfield, IL. This position performs technical 2 and 3-dimensional drafting utilizing computer aided drafting software to develop floor plans, schematics, and signs for the Department and/or their designees. If you have two years of college or technical schooling with courses in graphics, drafting, visual design, utilization of materials, planning and composition, and map construction, then we want you! Essential Functions
- Under general supervision, performs technical 2-D drafting utilizing AutoCAD (computer assisted drafting) software to develop floor plans, schematics and signs, etc. for all Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) moves and projects.
- Confers with and compiles information obtained by meeting with division managers and supervisors to set up seating arrangements, file locations, furniture locations, phone and personal computer (PC) locations, etc.
- Coordinates move times and setting up scheduled moves by collaborating with the division managers, Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) End User Computing (EUC) staff, Property Management Space Planning staff, and Secretary of State electricians, carpenters, and laborers to create an acceptable schedule.
- Assists with all aspects of internal moves by working with and assisting electrician, carpenter and laborer as allowed, handles problems as they arise such as scheduling conflicts, equipment problems, installation problems etc.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years high school, supplemented by two years college or technical schooling with courses in graphics, drafting, visual design, utilization of materials, planning and composition, and map construction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six (6) years of experience in general drafting and visual presentation work.
- Six (6) years of experience utilizing the principles and methods of architectural and structural drafting, including cartographic drafting, visual design, and graphic illustration.
- Six (6) years of experience working with current state and local building codes, including experience with adhering to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
- Six (6) years of experience utilizing computer-aided drafting software.
- Six (6) years of experience interpreting and working from blueprints, simple sketches, and drawings.
- Four (4) years of experience maintaining records related to as-built drawings for the work performed, to be used as future reference.
- Six (6) years of experience estimating time, labor, and materials necessary to complete work orders.
- Six (6) years utilizing and caring for drafting tools, materials, and equipment.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to successfully complete a tax compliance and fingerprint-based background check.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
- Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
