Essential Functions
• Under administrative direction, serves as a Database Administration Analyst for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDoR) performing complex and advisory functions for the Gentax application systems.
• Independently performs complex functional and technical activities supporting the production information system and makes complex systems modification design changes.
• Monitors the performance and use of database and database designs for the application systems implemented at IDOR and performs analysis and tuning recommendations for improved performance.
• Conducts technical studies to evaluate and optimize system performance, establishing criteria for information system requirements.
• Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
• Requires three (3) years of professional experience in Application Services or a related Information Technology field.
Specialized Skills
• Requires three (3) years of professional experience designing, implementing, and administering SQL Server relational databases within Windows Server environments, including SQL Server Agent Client/Server architecture, and performance tuning to support complex information systems.
• Requires three (3) years of professional experience developing and automating administrative tasks using PowerShell scripting, with the ability to interpret and apply Active Directory security models and manage NTFS permissions to ensure secure and efficient system operations.
• Requires three (3) years of professional experience configuring, maintaining, and supporting Gentax systems, including troubleshooting and implementing system modifications to meet evolving business requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
• Three (3) years of professional experience designing, implementing, and administering SQL Server relational databases within Windows Server environments, including SQL Server Agent Client/Server architecture, and performance tuning to support complex information systems.
• Three (3) years of professional experience developing and automating administrative tasks using PowerShell scripting, with the ability to interpret and apply Active Directory security models and manage NTFS permissions to ensure secure and efficient system operations.
• Three (3) years of professional experience configuring, maintaining, and supporting Gentax systems, including troubleshooting and implementing system modifications to meet evolving business requirements.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in defining, evaluating, and resolving complex technical and operational problems, including precedent-setting or research-based solutions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency officials, technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure successful system implementation and support.
• Ability to logically interpret data, identify root causes, and develop solutions for operational or procedural changes withing production and test environments.
• Developed verbal and written communication skills to clearly present technical concepts, system designs, and performance recommendations to both technical and non-technical audience, ensuring clarity and precision in documentation and reporting.
