Essential Functions

  • Under immediate supervision, serves as a Database Administration Specialist I for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), supporting the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR), assisting in performing limited assignments in DB2 and SQL Server environments including SQL Server Reporting Services and the operating system environments the products run on.
  • Performs application programming support of limited complexity, supporting, maintaining, and developing scripts and programs in support of DB2 and SQL Server.
  • Receives instructions in understanding and applying modern systems methodology and standard operating procedures in performing the structured phases of a system lifecycle.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology field by continuing education through meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.

      OR

  • Requires satisfactory completion of an agency sponsored training program.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Elementary knowledge of Client/Server concepts.
  • Elementary knowledge of technical mainframe or PC software.
  • Elementary knowledge of VB.net or C#. 
  • Elementary knowledge of relational databases such as DB2 or SQL Server.
  • Elementary knowledge of coding or testing of business objects.
  • Elementary knowledge of application programming support.
  • Elementary knowledge of Information Technology documentation.
