Essential Functions

  • Subject to management approval, serves as the Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Department of Innovation and Technology/Department of Corrections (DoIT/IDOC)
  • Plans, directs, coordinates, and supervises professional staff responsible for operational areas of Information Security & Audit Compliance, Financial & Support Services, Customer Service & Training, Technical Management, and Program Management
  • Oversees, establishes, and implements processes, controls, and standards to ensure compliance with IDOC schedules and priorities:​​
  • Represents DoIT/IDOC at meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Serves as full line supervisor.
  • Coordinates audit responses to the Office of the Auditor General and Federal Auditors:  
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in management information systems, data processing or telecommunications or directly related fields.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in management information systems, data processing or telecommunications in a public or business organization. 

Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance):

  • Four (4) years of professional experience supervising professional management information technology staff.
  • Four (4) years of professional experience working with application developmental processes for an information technology public or private business organization.
  • Four (4) years of professional experience working with database management processes for an information technology public or private business organization.
  • Thorough knowledge of staff development processes in an information technology public or private or business organization.
  • Extensive knowledge working with a large-scale management information technical and network infrastructure.  
  • Ability to interpret and implement policies, procedures, and goals of management information services.
  • Ability to prepare and make presentations to large and small audiences.
  • Ability to analyze and diagnose administrative issues and coordinate efforts to resolve. 
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills to present information to others with clarity and precision.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with others.

Please note that although the law has changed, the Department will continue to enforce the Department’s zero tolerance Drug Testing policy. Term Appointment:
Candidates hired into a term position shall be appointed for a term of 4 years and are subject to a
