"The contractual Digital Services Information Systems Professional position will be required to physically be in the office located in Springfield five days a week."

 

This is a full-time position. The selected candidate must work 37.5 hours per week. The selected candidate will start as soon as possible.

Position Statement

   

Information in this statement is NOT intended to be all-encompassing or to address all responsibilities of the position.

This position will provide in-person information system/technology related support services for Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority in Springfield. The candidate will work closely with internal staff and external customers installing and maintaining hardware and software, troubleshooting errors and providing technical support. The incumbent will diagnose and reproduce issues that are reported to the technology support team. Duties will include in-person meetings, virtual meeting, phone calls, email correspondence with ICJIA staff regarding technology related issues.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Work with ICJIA Digital Services team to improve technology related infrastructure and security.
  2. Help with staff technology related support request and improve the local network and technology equipment management.
  3. Assist with system documentation for the above.

Minimal Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to a four-year degree in information systems, computer science, or directly related field.
  2. Requires at least four years of professional information system experience with demonstrative proficiency applying each of the following skills, technology tools, frameworks, and methods for the minimum number of years indicated below:
  • Three years of maintaining, troubleshooting and securing operating systems and related applications;
  • Three years of configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and securing cloud platforms and related applications;
  • Three years of documenting; systems (e.g., security, settings, network);
  • Three years of experience demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities;
  • Three years of experience demonstrating strong time management/prioritization skills; and
  • Three years of experience demonstrating ability to present technical and high-level concepts and solutions to internal and external team members with varying degrees of technical knowledge, e.g., developers, business logic experts, users, vendors, and other Information Technology Staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Prefers four years of experience supporting troubleshooting and securing computer operating systems, cloud platforms (e.g., Windows,Ubuntu, Linux, AWS, Google Cloud).
  2. Prefers four years of experience supporting troubleshooting applications, application development environments, and cloud platforms (e.g, MS Office Suites, Office 365, SQL services/server, Programming Application Environments, Visual Studio, MS Server, AWS, Google Cloud).
  3. Prefers two years of experience working with TCP/IP, managing Active Directory, DHCP services, imaging computers, and Windows Deployment Services.
  4. Prefers three years of experience providing remote helpdesk support.
  5. Prefers two years of experience building and maintaining effective courteous professional relationships with associates, vendors, clients, and others.
  6. Prefers education or training beyond a four year degree in information systems, computer science or related field and/or certifications, e.g., Microsoft Certified Professional Developer.
  7. Prefers three years of experience demonstrating strong ability to make decisions in a logical and objective manner, including with time management and prioritization of tasks.
  8. Prefers three years of experience demonstrating strong ability to analyze and review information thoroughly to solve problems.
  9. Prefers three years of experience demonstrating strong ability to present technical and high-level concepts and solutions to internal and external team members with varying degrees of technical knowledge.

 

Conditions of Employment

  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. 
  2. Must have the ability to lift technology equipment - up to 50 pounds.
  3. Must be able to travel occasionally to office in Chicago.
  4. Requires ability to pass a background check.

The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) responds to community needs with research and federal and state grants administration. ICJIA administers over 100 million dollars in grants, including the R3 (restore, reinvest, renew) grants (funded through the tax on legalized cannabis), state violence prevention grants, and federal grants including under the Violence Against Women Act and the Victims of Crime Act. ICJIA convenes groups and collaborates on efforts to reform the criminal justice system. ICJIA leads criminal justice reform efforts by supporting policy makers through research. ICJIA is dedicated to improving the administration of criminal justice. ICJIA brings together key leaders from the justice system and the public to identify critical issues faces by the criminal justice system in Illinois and to propose and evaluate policies, programs, and legislation that address those issues.
