Position Overview

1. Serves as the Emergency Grant Coordinator for the Division of Preparedness and Grant Administration. 

  • Performs technical accounting work in maintaining a complete set of general account books for the grant programs in the Preparedness and Grant Administration Division, Grants and Policy Administration Section. 
  • Processes grant payments, post expenditures, ensures proper processing through Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) Fiscal Management, Office of the Treasurer, and Office of the Comptroller in accordance with agency policy. 

 

2. Independently manages the cost funding requests for each grant program within the section. 

  • Records and reconciles cost funding receipts and expenditures for each grant program. 
  • Reconciles the divisions management cost funding expenditures. 
  • Prepares and distributes complex monthly reports detailing the status of management cost funding. 

 

3. Develops fiscal processes and/or procedures as directed. 

  • Assists in performing evaluation of the programs annually to ensure compliance with the current program requirements. 

 

4. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. 

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and one (1) year of technical accounting experience or four (4) years related clerical bookkeeping experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

1. Two (2) years of professional experience utilizing standard accounting software applications such as Microsoft Excel, or other comparable spreadsheet applications. 
2. Two (2) years of professional experience applying established accounting methods and techniques. 
3. Two (2) years of professional experience gaining knowledge of state or non-state accounting procedures. 
4. One (1) year of professional experience with office methods and procedures. 
5. One (1) year of professional experience monitoring expenditures and then initiating increases, decreases, or cancellations in budgets. 
6. One (1) year of professional experience developing fiscal processes and/or procedures.

1. Requires the ability to use agency-supplied equipment (laptop, mobile phone, etc.)
2. Requires a criminal history check through the Illinois State Police.
