The Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) Legal Services team is looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and energetic individual to fill the position of Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) Officer.   • Serves as the Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) Officer for the Department of Central Management Services.
  • Serves as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator and the Disability Access Coordinator for the Agency.
  • Serves as liaison between CMS and minority, women’s, and disability organizations, and between CMS and EEO enforcement authorities.
  • Serves as the CMS Language Access Coordinator.
  • Performs other duties as requires or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.


  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college in business or public administration, or human resources management.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization with at least two years directly related experience in Equal Employment Opportunity or Affirmative Action.


  • Prefers two (2) + years’ experience recommending courses of action consistent with existing law in matters concerning Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action.
  • Prefers two (2) + years’ experience complying with ADA and Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAAA) requirements.
  • Prefers two (2) + years’ experience investigating charges of discrimination, retaliation, and harassment, including sexual harassment.
  • Prefers two (2) + years’ experience managing a program that incorporates legal knowledge, policies, and interpersonal communication.
  • Prefers one (1) + years’ experience using effective verbal and written communication skills in a public or business organization.
  • Prefers a law degree or two (2) + years’ experience working with State and Federal employment laws.
  • Prefers one (1) + years’ experience in developing, implementing, and interpreting employer policies and procedures.
  • Prefers one (1) + years’ experience developing, implementing, or complying with policies related to limited English proficient (LEP) individuals having equal access to programs, services, and activities.


  •     This position requires the applicant to pass a background check.
  •     Overtime is a condition of employment and you may be required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.
  •     Requires the ability to travel.
