Job Detail

The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Bureau of Collections is seeking a highly motivated and energetic applicant to serve as the Operations Supervisor and handle incoming calls for the Third Party Liability (TPL) Inquiry Hotline.  Ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, as contender will communicate with clients, health insurance companies, health providers, and various business organizations.  The desired applicant will research via internet and various electronic files to determine the coordination of benefits between Healthcare and Family Services and health insurance companies, as well as the appropriate health insurance coverage for Medicaid Clients.  The ideal candidate will possess exceptional skills with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, & Outlook), plan, organize, prioritize, as well as follow up on assignments/tasks to ensure such are completed accurately, and timely in order to achieve set unit goals.  As supervisor, the candidate will assign/review assignment/tasks, provide guidance and training to assigned staff, approves time off according to operational needs, prepare and present employee performance evaluations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes and evaluates research activities to correct and update information contained in TPL eligibility files
  • Serves as contact for the TPL Inquiry line handling both English and Spanish speaking incoming telephone calls from health insurance companies, employers, unions, clients, providers and DHS Local Offices
  • Evaluates and reviews adherence to policies and procedures for entering validated TPL coverage
  • Serves as a working supervisor
  • Adds, corrects, updates, and deletes TPL Employer records on the TPL Employer File system
  • Completes production reports and conducts analytical studies relative to the operation and management of the Unit resource information
  • Confers with management to review TPL policies, procedures, goals and objectives to improve work flow and improve the integrity of TPL eligibility files
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college, preferably with course work in business or public administration
  • Requires one year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization or completion of an agency approved professional management training program
  • Requires the ability to speak and write Spanish at a colloquial level
