Essential Functions
- Under direction of the Cannabis Counsel, as a Cannabis Division Research Administrator, organizes, coordinates, plans, executes and evaluates the research, legal research, statistical and documentary needs for the Division of Cannabis Regulation.
- Implements policy applicable to new, in progress and closed cases including cannabis litigation matters, requests for fine hearings, requests for Consent Orders, and all other matters brought before the Cannabis Counsel for resolution.
- Reviews, reconstructs and writes draft decisions and opinions based on factual evidence presented during hearings which do not involve interpretations of matters of law.
- Researches primary and secondary legal sources, as well as the preparation of subpoena compliance, legal memoranda and opinions.
- Gathers, reviews, and analyzes Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests inquiries.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties
enumerated above.
Specialized Skills
- Requires six (6) months cannabis litigation support experience.
- Requires two (2) years of experience in legal and pre-legal field.
- Requires two (2) years of experience as a paralegal or paralegal assistant.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with coursework in business or public administration.
- Requires one year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers six (6) months of cannabis litigation support experience.
- Prefers two (2) years of experience in legal and pre-legal field.
- Prefers two (2) years of experience as a paralegal or paralegal assistant.
- Prefers one (1) year working experience
with precedent cases, search procedures, writing style format and vocabulary appropriate to the subject matter upon completion of a job learning period. - Prefers one (1) year experience with technical report writing, vocabulary and word usage.
- Prefers analytical skills in working with information such as would typically be acquired through a professional education.
- Prefers one (1) year of experience writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Prefers working knowledge to analyze and organize facts, evidence and precedents and to draft written material to legal staff in a clear and logical format.
- Prefers (1) year working experience organizing and presenting statistical data.
