Essential Functions
- Under direction of the Deputy Chief Fiscal Officer (DCFO), assists with the Department's budget formation and monitoring.
- Assists the DCFO in the preparation of the Illinois State Legislative (ISL) proposal and forms for submission to the Illinois General Assembly.
- Assists the DCFO with fiscal functions and maintenance of Department data as required by the Governor's Office of Management and Budget (GOMB) and oversight authorities.
- Under the direction of the DCFO, assist individual Divisions and Bureaus with development and monitoring of their budgets.
- Assists the Bureau of Budget and Fiscal Services staff with accounting entries as needed to process work within budgeted means.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Specialized Skills
- Requires two (2) years of experience in government budget development, administration, reporting, or monitoring.
- Requires (3) months experience with the preparation and use of the Illinois ISL process.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skills, and mental development equivalent to four years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
- Requires one year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers two (2) year of experience in budget administration, reporting, or monitoring compliance related to budget monitoring.
- Prefers three (3) months experience with the preparation and use of the Illinois ISL process.
- Prefers experience working in the State Accounting Program (SAP).
