Position Overview
The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) is the state’s lead division serving people with disabilities committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and racial justice. The mission of the Division is to assist individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals of employment, education, and independent living. This position serves as the Bureau of Support Services Expenditure Support Specialist implementing and executing funding sources, budget development and approval of funds for statewide Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) Programs. The Division is seeking to hire a self-motivated and detailed orientated individual with good communication skills.
Essential Functions
- Serves as the Expenditure Support Specialist for Bureau of Support Services.
- Develops and maintains a library of data warehouse reports.
- Serves as a working supervisor.
- Researches and prepares data by using agency accounting and legacy systems, in preparation of federal grant financial reports.
- Serves as liaison with the agency Fiscal Services to ensure the proper processing of funds being repaid due to overpayment through the required complex processes in order that funds may be spent again.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
- Requires two (2) years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
Specialized Skills
- Of the two (2) years of professional experience, requires two (2) years of professional experience managing budget projections and spending plans for various program funding sources and analyzing and interpreting data and making recommendations to determine a specific course of action while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of professional experience managing budget projections and spending plans for various program funding sources and analyzing and interpreting data and making recommendations to determine a specific course of action while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Two (2) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and the ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking multiple projects.
- Two (2) years of professional experience communicating orally and in writing with a wide range of individuals that include employees, supervisors, division managers, community providers, agency staff and internal and external stakeholders.
- Two (2) years of professional experience preparing complex fiscal reports, charts and spreadsheets in various accessible formats such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Two (2) years of professional experience working collaboratively to analyze administrative problems and adopt an effective course of action.
- Two (2) years of professional experience supervising staff engaged in general accounting and/or budgeting activities.
