The Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS)'s, Bureau of Fiscal Operations is looking to hire a Financial Reporting Supervisor. Subject to management approval, this position planss, organizes, and directs financial review functions and special projects related to departmental programs, and their reporting within the Bureau, and projects involving financial impacts of Department computer systems; examines operational accounting transactions and verifications in maintenance of Agency funds; conducts and directs special reviews and validations of data procedures relating to receipts and expenditures of funds; reviews internal fiscal controls of receipts and expenditures; reviews financial processess and procedures of Statewide Distribution Unit (SDU) accounting transactions and reporting; interprets and explains Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) relating to departmental accounting issues and transactions; and serves as working supervisor.

Job Responsibilities
- Serves as the Financial Reporting Supervisor for the Division of Fiscal Operations' Financial Reporting/Special Projects unit
- Examines operational accounting transactions and verifications in maintenance of Agency funds
- Serves as a working supervisor
- Conducts and directs special reviews and validations of data procedures relating to receipts and expenditures of funds
- Reviews internal fiscal controls of receipts and expenditures
- Reviews financial processes and procedures of Statewide Distribution Unit (SDU), accounting transactions, and reporting
- Interprets and explains GAAP relating to departmental accounting issues and transactions
- Confers with managers regarding accounting policy issues, adherences to established fiscal rules and regulations, and the Bureau's fiscal responsibilities
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college, with coursework in accounting, auditing, finance, business, or public administration
- Requires prior experience equivalent to (3) years of professional administrative accounting experience in a public or business organization
- Requires certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience with fiscal management, compliance auditing, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB)
- Three (3) years of experience with financial statement preparation, analysis review of financial data, and reconciliations of various financial data
- Three (3) years of experience working with the principles of governmental accounting and recommending alternative methods for fiscal problem resolution
- Three (3) years of administrative experience in state government or private or public organization in dealing with large fiscal systems
- Three (3) years of experience with annual financial reporting processes
- Three (3) years of experience with making decisions involving significant amounts of money and ability to justify and support those decisions
- Three (3) years of supervisory experience with management and leadership skills
