Essential Functions
- Serves as the Fleet Manager for the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS).
- Implements vehicle and motor equipment policy for the agency.
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Serves as the liaison (Vehicle Coordinator/Vehicle-Use Officer) with Central Management Services (CMS) regarding the procedures and maintenance of IEMA-OHS’ fleet.
- Coordinates and schedules appointments with CMS’ State Garages, private garages, body repair and paint shops, and tire and battery shops for needed repairs, service, and maintenance, while ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Maintains monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on mileage, condition, assignment, repairs, oil, gas, etc. on vehicles used within the agency.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Specialized Skills
- Requires two (2) years of professional experience in vehicle management.
- Requires one (1) year of experience using fleet management software and following vehicle-use policies and procedures for a state, local, or federal government agency.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
- Requires two (2) years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of professional experience in vehicle management.
- One (1) year of experience using fleet management software and following vehicle-use policies and procedures for a state, local, or federal government agency.
- Two (2) years of professional experience in emergency management.
- Two (2) years of professional experience in developing and delivering program metrics to senior leadership, including both written and oral briefing with PowerPoint slides or other visual aids.
- One (1) year of professional experience establishing policies and procedures.
- One (1) year of professional experience in writing concise correspondence.
- Prefers a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A.
- One (1) year of experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Excel.
- One (1) year of experience supervising employees.
Conditions of Employement
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
- Requires ability to drive a state-supplied vehicle as needed.
- Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This may require the ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Requires ability to use agency-supplied equipment such as cellphone, laptop, etc.
- Requires a criminal history check through the Illinois State Police.
- Requires the ability to obtain and maintain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A.
