Position Overview
The Human Resources Representative serves as the Illinois Department of Veterans Affair's Leave of Absence (LOA) Coordinators and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Coordinator for all IDVA facilities.
Essential Functions
- Serves as the Agency’s Leave of Absence (LOA) and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Coordinator
- Serves as the Agency’s Light Duty (LD) and Worker’s Compensation (WC) Coordinator.
- Prepares transactions for employees
- Notifies supervisors of evaluation due dates, provides proper format of evaluation to supervisors, reviews and verifies they are properly completed.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college and one year of professional experience, preferably in human resources, or satisfactory completion of an approved training program
Specialized Skills
- Requires two (2) years of professional experience working with the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) for a public or private organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) or more years professional experience gaining knowledge of the Personnel Code, Rules, Position Classification Plan, Pay Plan, Collective Bargaining Contracts, Group Insurance rules and regulations, Workers’ Compensation, Federal Merit Standards, Equal Employment Opportunity Act, Civil Rights Act, and/or guidelines derived therefrom.
- One (1) or more years professional experience gaining knowledge of state government, departmental policies, procedures, and processes, including those related to leave of absences.
- One (1) or more years professional experience coordinating State of Illinois leave of absences, FMLA and Workers Compensation.
- One (1) or more years professional experience framing correspondence and reports with grammatical correctness.
- One (1) or more years professional experience soliciting and obtaining relevant information/data.
- One (1) year of professional experience working with personnel-related computer systems, such as the Personnel Examination and Eligibility Records Systems (PEERS), SAP Human Capital Management Systems or similar, DocuWare, and Mobius Printing.
- One (1) or more years professional experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Access, at an intermediate proficiency level.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass a background check.
- Requires use of agency-supplied equipment (mobile phone, laptop, etc.).
- Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- Overtime is a condition or employment, and you may be required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.
