Position Overview
Essential Functions
- Maintains, examines, and reconciles complex account books, records, and documents.
- Reviews complex invoices and obligations for approval to the accounting level in the accounting system and ensures that an audit trail is being maintained.
- Compiles and prepares information to review complex statements reports and other documentation for required monthly and annual Federal State financial reports.
- Determines Cash needs based upon sub-grantee request and administrative need and requests cash from the appropriated Federal State or private grantor agency.
- Compiles fiscal and statistical data for use by upper management.
- Prepares and posts journal entries into complex ledger for grants receipts, cash requests, expenditures, etc.
- Aids other staff persons with any questions or problems concerning various reconciliations of obligations, appropriations, contracts, detail objects receipts, etc.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years college with courses in business administration and accounting.
- Requires two years of professional experience in accounting, external auditing, budgetary planning and control or public accounting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) year or more of practical experience working with the principles of governmental accounting, auditing, and statistics.
- Prefers 2 years of experience reconciling and analyzing financial reports for errors.
- Prefers 2 years of experience providing accounting assistance to subordinate staff.
- Prefers experience in Microsoft Excel demonstrating proficiency writing and utilizing advanced functions or formulas.
