Position Overview

Performs professional accounting and audit work and maintains Accounts Payable records for the Illinois Commerce Commission(ICC); posts expenditures into SAP; ensures compliance with SAMS accounting policies and internal procedures; maintains detailed documentation of each expenditure's requisition documents and other pertinent information to support payment transaction; examines travel vouchers for accuracy and completeness and processes for payment; serves as the agency vehicle coordinator for the ICC; organizes, plans, executes, controls and evaluates the operation of the ICC’s vehicle program; manages day- to-day activities; implements procedures and practices to ensure vehicle policies are adhered to and in compliance with all applicable statutes, rules and policies; receives and tags fixed assets and makes changes as necessary in the Inventory tracking system; compiles, examines and maintains budgeting, forecasting and spending information for Agency expenditures.

Essential Functions

  • Performs professional accounting and audit work and maintains Accounts Payable records for the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC).
  • Serves as agency vehicle coordinator for the ICC.
  • Receives and tags fixed assets for inventory tracking purposes.
  • Compiles, examines, and maintains budgeting, forecasting, and spending information regarding Agency expenditures.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
  • Requires one year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers working knowledge of the principles of government accounting, program budgeting, vehicle fleet management and procurement.
  • Prefers the ability to develop and manage a small agency function program and to analyze administrative problems and adopt an effective course of action.
  • Prefers the ability to estimate and budget for future needs and costs of personnel, space, equipment, supplies and services.
  • Prefers the ability to prepare comprehensive accounting reporting; Prefers the ability to review detailed written or numerical data and to make calculations rapidly and accurately and to evaluate and analyze accounting records.
  • Prefers the ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships and to deal tactfully with controversial problems.
  • Prefers experience in accounting, auditing, budgetary planning and control or public accounting.
  • Prefers knowledge of laws, rules and regulations relating to state or non-state accounting or auditing procedures
