Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated individual to work in a fast-paced Human Resources Office. The position will require great organizational skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of staff. The ideal candidate should have human resources knowledge and experience. They should have the ability to multitask and experience prioritizing multiple high-level requests. IDOC invites all interested parties to apply.
Essential Functions
- Under direction, serves in a journey level professional capacity as a General Office Human Resources Liaison, performing complex, specialized professional human resources duties.
- Participates in the hiring process for general office positions.
- Distributes and gathers human resources forms, reports, and paperwork.
- Provides and coordinates new employee orientation to employees new to DOC general office positions.
- Performs onboarding and offboarding tasks.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
- Requires two (2) years of professional human resources experience.
- Requires two (2) years of professional working experience interpreting and applying the Illinois Personnel Code, Personnel Rules, Pay Plan, and collective bargaining contracts.
Specialized Skills
- Requires two (2) years of professional human resources experience in a State of Illinois agency.
- Requires two (2) years of professional working experience interpreting and applying the Illinois Personnel Code, Personnel Rules, Pay Plan, and collective bargaining contracts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional human resources experience in a public or private agency/company.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional working experience interpreting and applying personnel rules, pay plans, and collective bargaining contracts.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience in an interviewing and selection process.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and WebEx or similar programs.
- Prefers the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Prefers the willingness to be part of a team to maintain a cohesive work environment.
- Prefers the ability to work in an environment with a high volume of work.
- Prefers the ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with a wide variety of staff.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the successful completion and maintenance of being certified for Subject Matter Expert and Interviewer
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
