Position Overview

The ISP is seeking an individual to serve as the agency Classification Coordinator and Lead Worker for code transactions, performing complex specialized professional duties in human resources administration. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly motivated, and able to work independently to meet deadlines.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as the agency Classifications Coordinator. 
    • Serves as the agency subject matter classifications expert. 
    • Provides classifications expertise on classification issues for agency division staff. 
    • Reviews job descriptions for accuracy and prepares them for submission to Central Management Services (CMS) for final approval. 
    • Consults with and advises management on proper position allocations. 
    • Provides classification training to division liaisons. 
    • Performs position reviews/studies. 
    • Provides technical expertise on job specifications. 
    • Serves as the classification point of contact with CMS. 
    • Maintains oversight for each work location organization charts posted to the Director’s shared drive
  • Reviews Personnel Action Requests (PAR) for accuracy and compliance with CMS guidelines and departmental policies. 
    • Leads staff in preparation and entering of CMS-2’s based on submitted PARs. 
    • Develops and implements policies and procedures for the processing of transactions. 
    • Provides advice to staff and division liaisons. 
    • Trains staff in proper transactions processing
  • Serves as a designated Lead Worker. 
    • Assigns and reviews work. 
    • Provides guidance and training to assigned staff. 
    • Advises immediate supervisor regarding work performance of staff.
  • Participates in sensitive and confidential research of employee issues. 
    • Research inquiries related to employee transactions issues. 
    • Responds to sensitive and controversial inquiries related to transactions. 
    • Provides interpretation and explanation of the rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.

2. Requires two (2) years of professional human resources experience.

Specialized Skills

1. Two (2) years of experience processing personnel classifications.

2. Two (2) years of experience processing personnel transactions.

3. One (1) year of experience as a lead worker or supervisor.

4. One (1) year of experience researching complex personnel transaction issues.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Two (2) years of extensive knowledge of the Personnel Code, Rules, Position Classification Plan, Pay Plan, and Collective Bargaining Agreements.

2. Two (2) years of extensive knowledge of state government and the human resources processes of that state government.
