Position Overview

The Bureau of Human Resources is seeking to hire an employee to fulfill the role of Human Resource Specialist by bringing a positive energy to the workplace, providing specialized human resource services for the Illinois Department of Agriculture.  The ideal candidate will be courteous and strive to treat others with dignity and equality. The individual must be highly organized and be able to complete a variety of technical functions within a fast-paced office.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Serves as Transactions Specialist for Bureaus/Divisions of the Agency;

  2. Serves as Classification Specialist for the Bureau/Divisions of the Agency;

  3. Develops, maintains and implements processes for notification of supervisory/management staff on status of employee employment evaluations;

  4. Prepares, maintains and stores a variety of HR records and files;

  5. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minumum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4)years of college.

2, Requires two (2)years of professional human resource experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Knowledge of the Personnel Code, Rules, Position Classification Plan, Pay Plan, Collective Bargaining Contracts, Federal Merit Standards, Equal Employment Opportunity Act and Civil Rights Act and guidelines derived therefrom; and departmental policies, procedures and processes.

2. Requires the ability to read, assimilate and recall with a high degree of proficiency facts and figures.

3. Requires ability to obtain and solicit relevant information/data from people.

 

SPECIALIZED SKILLS.

1. Of the two years of professional human resources experience, requires at least two years of experience working with internal and external stakeholders developing and maintaining job descriptions; and

2. At least two years of experience creating and entering transactions and utilizing IMSH, HRIS, PEERS and EELS
