Position Overview:

The Department of Agriculture seeks an experienced facility manager for the position of Illinois State Fair Facilities Manager.  This position is an integral part of the team that provides the day-to-day operation and maintenance of all facility management functions on the Illinois State Fairgrounds.  This position supervises trades and buildings & grounds professionals.  We encourage qualified applicants to apply today!

Job Responsibilities

  1. Serves as the Illinois State Fair Facilities Manager.
  2. Serves as full line supervisor.
  3. Assists the Bureau Chief in developing the annual budget for the region client agencies' facilities management budget. 
  4. Reviews, evaluates and approves invoices and confers with the Bureau of Budget and Fiscal Services to process payments for the procurement of facility services and supplies.  
  5. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. 

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration, management, facilities management or a related field. 
  2. Requires prior experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in public or business organization, preferably in supervisory and management or a related field.  

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Prefers two or more years' experience with facilities management, including maintenance and repair of buildings, preventative maintenance programs, grounds keeping services, janitorial services, security services and systems, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC repair and maintenance and the property control function for the facility.
  2. Prefers two or more years' experience interpreting and implementing collective bargaining agreements.
  3. Prefers one or more years of professional experience supervising staff, including training and completing performance evaluations.
  4. Prefers experience estimating and budgeting for future needs and cost of space, equipment, supplies and services related to facility management.
  5. Prefers experience reading and understanding blueprints.
  6. Prefers thorough knowledge of basic computer software such as MS Office Suite for word documents, excel spreadsheets and databases.  

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires a valid IL Driver's License and travel in performance of duties.  
  2. Requires ability to serve on an on-call basis.  
  3. Requires the ability to successfully pass a background check. 
  4. Requires the ability to work overtime.  
  5. Requires the ability to work at various times outside normal office hours.
